Daniel Mannix added to our authors!
We are excited to have Daniel Pratt Mannix IV as one of our authors. Mannix had a personal life as interesting as his novels. At various times he was an author, journalist, photographer, sideshow performer, stage magician, animal trainer, hunter, and filmmaker.
As an author, Mannix covered a wide range of topics. His best-known works are the books Those About to Die which remained in continuous print for three decades and was an inspiration for the 2001 film, The Gladiator, and The Fox and the Hound, our first release by this fascinating author.

An evocative and haunting tale
The Fox and the Hound follows the lives of the red fox, Tod, a half-bloodhound dog, Copper, and Copper's "Master". The story is told from the animals' perspectives as man and dog relentlessly hunt the fox, against the dual backdrops of a changing human world and Tod's normal life of hunting, mating, and defending his territory. To make his characters as realistic as possible, Mannix studied both wild and tame foxes, researched a wide variety of hunting techniques, and also the ways hounds appear to track foxes.
